ighty-eight games are in the books, leaving an abbreviated second half for manager Dave Trembley and the Orioles to ponder. And while the first half was a tale of modest improvement meshed with the ongoing story of trying to compete in baseball’s toughest division, Trembley can see reason for optimism after the All-Star break.

Trembley wasn’t selling state secrets with that evaluation, as he’s spoken about fundamentals for the better part of his tenure and seen the Orioles run through a wide variety of potential starting options. Baltimore appears to have found a few keepers in Brad Bergesen and David Hernandez, but Trembley wants them to continue their maturation.
