Zimmermann aims to build on solid June

Jordan Zimmermann was on top of his game in June, but it hadn’t shown up in his win column.
While pitching against the Red Sox at Nationals Park, Zimmermann was matched up against John Smoltz — who was making the first start of his career with a big league team other than the Braves — and completely outptched the future Hall of Famer. The 23-year-old rookie right-hander dominated the first-place Red Sox while relying on a good fastball, giving up a run on five hits while walking one and striking out six in seven innings.
